Good Things

You interested in good things?

THE TAINT
This movie is full of filth, cocks, pus/semen, and ridiculousness, as well as some sweet music. I recieved the DVD a few weeks ago, and what a delight! It also comes with commentary. But you can download the movie as well (although you will want to share this movie, like the one in The Ring, and bless/curse those around you, so I do suggest getting the DVD).

HATCHET 2
Have you seen the first Hatchet (hi, Harmony from Buffy's boobs)? If you're a lover of all the classic slasher greats and you haven't seen Adam Green's Hatchet and Hatchet 2, you're doing yourself a great disservice. The death scenes are gleeful and gory, and the killer looks like a Hills Have Eyes version of Chucky on steroids. (And yeah, that's Candyman).

MEMOIR
Ben McCool and Nikki Cook's Memoir (Image) has two issues out so far, with more to go. If you're into small town horror phenomenon (come on, who isn't?) pick this up.

MISFITS
For a few months I had a couple of friends suggest I watch Misfits. I don't know why the description never appealed to me (residual disinterest in "mass" super powers after Heroes and The 4400 and whatever else did this concept). I finally watched it - back to back - it was amazing. The characters are hilarious, the situations are hilarious, the show is... hilarious. It stands leaps and bounds above it's predecessors. I don't even really know where to begin with my praise. The first episode does feature a Power Rangers meets Nike ad "transformation" clip, however don't be put off. Because the characters powers don't require any real amount of special effects, this show can take it to believable heights.

JOE BECKER'S NEW BLOG
To see Joe Becker's work is to love it.
Check out his filthy new painting blog.
MISKATONIC INSTITUTE
I'm currently taking horror film classes at Miskatonic. Not only is it the best place in Montreal and has effectively saved me from losing my mind, but it also doubles as a Cinema for the weird and wonderful. Check this place out, there is something for all horror/occult fans.
Also, wetting my pants to see Hobo With a Shotgun, Super, Detention, The Innkeepers, Insidious and Scream 4.
